What is Ambien?
Ambien belongs to the group of medicines called central nervous system depressants. These are medicines that slow down the nervous system.
Ambien is used to treat insomnia or trouble sleeping. Ambien helps you get to sleep faster and sleep through the night.
In general, when sleep medicines are used every night for a long time, they may lose their effectiveness.
In most cases, sleep medicine should be used only for a short period of time such as one or two days, and in general, for no longer than one to two weeks.
What is Ambien Addiction and Abuse?
Ambien addiction and abuse includes the following: the thought that sleep is not possible without the use of Ambien, constantly telling yourself that you will take it only one more night before finding another solution, knowing that you have increased your dose without the support of your doctor, taking Ambien because you enjoy the feeling of sedation that it brings, worrying about where you will get Ambien from next time as you have been taking too much and fear you will get caught, visiting multiple doctors to ensure that you can get more Ambien.
What are the side effects of Ambien?
The side effects of Ambien include: headache, pain, daytime drowsiness, light-headedness, dizziness, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, unpleasant taste or dry mouth, unusual dreams, decreased sexual desire, painful menstrual periods and breast enlargement in males.
What are the withdrawal symptoms of Ambien?
Grouchiness and irritability, sweating, upset stomach and vomiting, stomach cramps, shakiness, anxiety and panic attacks, fatigue and exhaustion, seizures, dizziness, unusual dreams and insomnia.
