What is Seroquel?
Seroquel tablets and extended release long-acting tablets are used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental illness that causes disturbed or unusual thinking, loss of interest in life, and strong or inappropriate emotions.
Seroquel Addiction and Seroquel Abuse
Seroquel tablets and extended release tablets can also be used alone or with other medications to treat or prevent episodes of mania. Mania is frenzied, abnormally excited or irritated mood.
Seroquel may also be used to treat depression in patients with bipolar disorder, or manic depressive disorder which is a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods.
Seroquel is in a class of medications called “atypical antipsychotics.” It works by changing the activity of certain natural substances in the brain.
What is Seroquel addiction and abuse?
Long-term anti-psychotic use may eventually lead to a serious dependence upon the drug – so serious that one cannot function without the medication.
This hypothesis is confirmed by the many serious Seroquel addiction withdrawal symptoms that may be experienced when a person forgets to take a dose or discontinues use completely.
Though antidepressants are not likely to be abused, many long-term users develop an antipsychotic tolerance.
What are the side effects of Seroquel?
The side effect of Seroquel include: drowsiness, dry mouth, weight gain, increase in the triglyceride levels, headaches, agitation, increase in cholesterol levels, fatigue, weakness, and constipation.
What are the withdrawal symptoms of Seroquel?
The withdrawal symptoms of Seroquel include: nausea and vomiting, insomnia, symptoms of schizophrenia, hallucinations, delusions, mania, and depression.
