Pentobarbitol is also used as an emergency treatment for seizures and to cause you to fall asleep for surgery.

In high enough doses, Seconal can induce anesthesia, and overdose can be deadly.

What is Seconal withdrawal?

The symptoms of barbiturate withdrawal can be severe and may cause death.

Minor withdrawal symptoms may appear 8 to 12 hours after the last dose of barbiturates.

These symptoms usually appear in the following order; anxiety, muscle twitching, tremors of the hands and fingers, progressive weakness, dizziness, distortion of visual perception, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, and orthopedic hypertension.

Major withdrawal symptoms such as convulsions and delirium may occur within 16 hours and last up to five days after abrupt cessation of the drug.

Intensity of withdrawal symptoms gradually declines over a period of approximately 15 days.

Individuals susceptible to barbiturate abuse and dependence include alcoholics and opiate abusers as well as sedative, hypnotic and amphetamine abusers.

What are Seconal withdrawal symptoms?

Anxiety, irritability, elevated heart rate, muscle pain, nausea, tremors, hallucinations, confusion and seizures.

What is Seconal detox?

When Seconal use is stopped abruptly, these withdrawal symptoms can be severe. Persons who are addicted to Seconal usually enter a substance medical detox in which the withdrawal effects and symptoms can be minimized at a safe and steady pace under the supervision of a medical doctor.
