Opana Withdrawal and Detox
Siobhan Morse, Executive Director of The National Institute for Holistic Addiction Studies, discusses Opana Withdrawal and Detox in this Special Report.
What is Opana?
Opana is an analgesic narcotic with an addiction liability similar to that of morphine. It is apparent within 15 minutes
and remains in effect for more than five hours. Opana is approximately eight times more potent on a milligram basis than morphine.
What is Opana withdrawal?
Opana addiction is typically fueled by the constant need to get more of the drug to prevent going into withdrawal.
Opana withdrawal occurs because the individual whether it is someone who is legitimately prescribed Opana or someone who is abusing it illicitly develops a physical and mental dependence to the drug over time.
When they stop using Opana, they begin to experience the uncomfortable and painful response that the body goes through as a result. They will have strong cravings for Opana and withdrawal symptoms can be very similar to those experienced during heroin withdrawal.
What are the withdrawal symptoms of Opana?
The withdrawal symptoms of Opana include: restlessness, muscle pain, insomnia, involuntary leg movements, irritability, panic and flu-like symptoms.
What is Opana detox?
When Opana use is stopped abruptly, these withdrawal symptoms can be severe.
Persons who are addicted to Opana usually enter a substance medical detox in which the withdrawal effects and symptoms can be minimized to a safe and steady pace under the supervision of a medical doctor.
This kind of medical drug detox program has been proven safer, faster, and more reliably comfortable than other systems.
